Missing Icons and Functions in 3ds Max 2022

Since version 5.9.3 Wall Worm requires 3ds Max 2022.3+ for the 2022 versions of Max.

Starting in WW 5.9.3, the Wall Worm installer now uses the PluginPackage system for 3ds Max 2022+. The way WW uses the PluginPackages requires you to install 3ds Max 2022.3 because the type of Environment Variable used in the install was only added after the initial release of 3ds Max 2022. Earlier versions of 2022 than 2022.3 will not work with the latest installers.

Symptoms:

  1. New Installation: Nothing shows up in the UI (toolbars, menus).
  2. Upgrading Installation: Toolbars and Menus show missing icons and missing macros.

To Fix

The best way to fix this is to update 3ds Max to 2022.3 from your Autodesk Account.

Alternate Fix

If you cannot do that, you can manually fix this by taking these steps:

  1. Open 3ds Max
  2. Click Customize > Configure User and System Paths
  3. In the dialog, click the 3rd Party Plugin-Ins Tab
  4. Click Add
  5. Add an entry for [WWInstallationFolder]\Wallworm.com\startup
  6. Click OK
  7. Add an entry for [WWInstallationFolder]\Wallworm.com\assemblies\2022\x64
  8. Click OK
  9. Add an entry for [WWInstallationFolder]\Wallworm.com\assets\shader\2019_Plus
  10. Click OK

Note that the default location for WW Installation Folder is C:\Program Files\Wall Worm\Wall Worm Pro Pack\. That path can be set to another location when WW was installed.
